Blackburn Defeated By Eureka After Scoreless First Half

Blackburn Women's soccer was defeated by Eureka College on Wednesday afternoon. The Eureka Red Devils won by a final score of 2-0.

Due to injuries, Blackburn was forced to play with only nine players on the field. Playing with a disadvantage proved to be a challenge for the Beavers. However, the Beavers were still able to notch several shots against the Red Devils.

The Beavers were aggressive in the first half on offense having seven shots on goal, while also playing a great defensive first half holding the Red Devils scoreless. Libby Adams had seven saves in the first half helping the Beavers keep the match all tied.

The Beavers tried to stay on offense in the second half with some close shots by Sophia King. However, Eureka’s offense got hot in the second half with a goal around the 50th-minute mark, to give them a one-up lead. Blackburn held them scoreless till the 85th-minute mark where the Red Devils would score again.

Blackburn's next match will take place on Saturday, October 15th. The Beavers will visit Principia College for their next match, which is set to begin at 1:30 p.m.
