Beavers Celebrate Neely on Senior Day Against Webster

Blackburn Women’s Soccer lost their final home match of the 2022 season on Saturday afternoon. The Beavers hosted the Gorloks of Webster university, and lost by a final score of 9-0.

The Beavers celebrated the career of senior Cadie Neely prior to the match. Unfortunately, due to injuries, Neely was unable to play in the match against Webster. Neely, a graduate of Greenville High School, played all four years for Blackburn. She has given countless hours of time and effort towards the Women’s soccer program, and head coach John Mansholt gave his best regards to Neely following her final match.

The Beavers were playing this match down players due to injuries, only starting ten in the lineup. Webster established a lead early by scoring six minutes into the game, courtesy of Grace Rodgers. Rodgers finished with three goals for the Gorloks, with two assists as well.

Libby Adams started at goalkeeper for the Beavers, but was eventually replaced by Izzy Erickson. Following Adams going back onto the field as a forward, she collected two shots on goal in the second half. Adams was forced to play goalkeeper for a handful of games this season following injuries.

The Beavers finished the season 1-16. Coach Mansholt intends to do heavy recruiting for next season, as he now has two seasons at Blackburn as head coach.

The Beavers will begin their off-season next week, and the school as well as returning players will be counting down the days until the next season starts.
