Volleyball Drops Close Conference Battle

The volleyball team was in the drivers seat to end their conference drought Tuesday evening against Eureka College, yet walked away unsuccessful.· The Beavers were defeated in four games by scores of 21-25, 25-19, 23-25, 22-25. Blackburn held a lead late in each game, but began to falter as the finish line approached.

Blackburn was in total control the majority of the first set after jumping out to an early·5-0 lead.· Eureka fought back however, and delivered a late rally to trump the Beavers 25-21.· The Beavers bounced back in the second set, cruising to an easy 25-19 victory.

A back and forth third set featured another late lead by Blackburn, but once again the Beavers were unable to maintain it.· Leading 22-20 Blackburn was in prime position to run away with the vicotry, yet Eureka persevered winning 25-23. The fourth and final set displayed yet another late lead by the the Beavers as they were leading 21-18, only to be ousted to end their evening.

Blackburn now posts a record of 1-14 now and will play host to Spalding Thursday·in their second to last home game.
