Blackburn Volleyball Defeats Eureka in Three Sets

The Blackburn Beavers hosted the Red Devils of Eureka College in a SLIAC volleyball conference match on February 23rd, 2021. The game took place at Blackburn College in Carlinville, Illinois. Blackburn won the match in three sets.

Set 1: Blackburn 25, Eureka 23

Set 2: Blackburn 25, Eureka 19

Blackburn was led offensively by Lucy Magnussen. She tallied up eleven kills, with 31 total attacks. Kasey Bean was just behind Magnussen, tallying up ten of her own kills. Kyleigh Marty also contributed greatly with nine kills of her own. Autumn Wilson led the team with 20 assists. As a team, the Beavers tallied up 45 kills, 154 total attacks, and three service aces. Amanda Swedberg was responsible for two out of the three aces. 

 

Swedberg was also the team's defensive leader of the match. She totaled 22 digs, as well as 31 service receptions. Following behind Swedberg was Karlee Herman, who totaled 14 digs and twelve service receptions. Sabrina Kelsey also contributed on defense, racking up twelve digs of her own. Autumn Wilson finished with ten digs, contributing further to the Beavers' strong defensive stand against Eureka. The team totaled 81 digs, with three blocks and 58 service receptions.

 

Eureka was led offensively by Emma Harris. She totaled eight kills, with 33 total attacks. Corinne DeBoard and Katelin Peters each tallied seven kills, and Regan Reed finished with six. Faith Catour was responsible for 25 assists out of the 26 total team assists for Eureka. Catour also had a kill of her own, as well as nine total attacks. Eureka finished the match with 31 kills, 137 total attacks, and six service aces. Rori Dosemagen was responsible for three of these aces.

 

Defensively, Eureka was led by Regan Reed. She tallied 18 digs, as well as 15 service receptions. Following behind her was Megan Masching, who finished the match with 16 digs, as well as 15 service receptions. Corinne DeBoard had 16 service receptions as well as eleven digs. Faith Catour also had 14 digs of her own. As a team, Eureka finished with 66 service receptions, 80 digs, and two total blocks. 

 

With this game, Blackburn moves to an overall record of 3-1. Their next matchup will be against conference rival Greenville University. The game will take place on Friday, February 26th, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at Greenville University.
