Fourth Set Comeback Gives Blackburn Victory Over Eureka

Blackburn Volleyball hosted a conference foe, Eureka College on a rainy Tuesday evening. The Beavers took the win in four sets.

Set 1: Blackburn 25, Eureka 21

Set 2: Blackburn 25, Eureka 18

Set 3: Eureka 25, Blackburn 18

Set 4: Blackburn 27, Eureka 25

The first two sets, Blackburn imposed their will against Eureka as they seemed comfortable. In the third set, Eureka tried to mount the comeback as they took that set. However, Blackburn did not make it easy on them. The fourth set went back in forth until an error caused Eureka to lose the set and the game.

The Beavers were led by Senior Elizabeth Bowyer as she had 16 kills in the game, followed closely by sophomore Jessica Muckensturm with 14 and junior Emily Eitzenhefer with thirteen.

Blackburn also defended well as they ended up with 16 total blocks in the game. Bowyer also led them in this category with five blocks of her own. Senior Sabrina Kelsey followed up behind her with four blocks.

Overall, Blackburn finished with 61 kills, 89 digs and 6 service aces. Autumn Wilson is getting closer and closer to her 1,100 career digs mark as tonight she added on 23 (leading the Beavers in this category for the game).

Blackburn will go on to play their penultimate game of the regular season, going away to play Illinois College on Thursday, October 27th. That game will start at 7:00 pm.
