Blackburn Drops Conference Match to Greenville University

Blackburn’s Women’s soccer hosted Greenville University on Saturday afternoon and lost by a final of 9-0. On a day full of wind gusts peaking around 30 mph, the Beavers were put in a tough position defensively for the entirety of the game.

Libby Adams continued her stint as Blackburn’s goalkeeper in this match. After starting goalkeeper Rylee Helus was put on the IL, Adams stepped forward and took the position.

Adams was able to save 16 shots in the match. However, with injuries continuing to plague the team, the Beavers were fighting an uphill battle for all 90 minutes.

Nina Torvisco scored first for the Panthers, with an assist from Emma Cadwell. Cadwell collected two more assists in the contest, helping Samantha De La Cruz score as well as Kiera Coleman.

Cadwell also had a goal of her own, which was unassisted. Other Greenville players that notched goals for the Panthers included Idaly Valenzuela, Alexis Roberts, Carly Wagner, and Jen De Leon De Leon.

With the season coming to an end fast, the Beavers only have two matches left. On Wednesday, October 26th, the Beavers will head to Fulton, Missouri to take on Westminster College at 5:00 p.m. Then, next Saturday, October 29th, the Beavers will host Webster University at 1:00 p.m. The Beavers will also hold their senior day ceremony prior to the final match of the season.
