Volleyball Advances to SLIAC Playoffs

Blackburn Volleyball will be heading to playoffs for the third season in a row on Wednesday, November 2nd. The Beavers will face the three-seeded Webster University for their play-in match in the 2022 SLIAC Volleyball Postseason.

Blackburn Volleyball is the six-seed in the conference playoff rankings. Greenville won the conference by going undefeated once again, and will play host to the tournament on November 5th. Blackburn is hoping to make a solid playoff run, especially in the inaugural season of both Marlee Kirby and Lucy Magnussen.

Kirby and Lucy both hold all-time career records at Blackburn, and though the team has seen its ups and downs during the regular season, both coaches have expressed their pride in the girls over the past few months.

"We're happy our girls pushed through til the end. Now they have a chance to make a bigger statement for the program in general, and we're all very excited to play on Wednesday evening." said Kirby.

There is still a lot at stake for Blackburn Volleyball surrounding the upcoming match against Webster. Blackburn has faced Webster twice during the regular season. In their first matchup, Blackburn made school history by defeating Webster for the first time in over twenty years, winning the match in five sets.

The second time the Gorloks and Beavers faced off this regular season, the Gorloks defeated the Beavers in five sets. It's safe to say that these two teams play incredible volleyball against each other, as each match played during the regular season against each other resulted in a five set game.

The match is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. on November 2nd, at Webster University. For more information regarding the tournament, visit the following link to the SLIAC Volleyball page.
