ST. LOUIS, MO. – Junior Cara Pence was named St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week.

Pence earns the honor after setting a new school record with her 313th kill this season in the team's 3-0 victory over Principia College Saturday afternoon. Earlier that day, the outside hitter paced the Beavers with a season-tying best 17 kills to guide Blackburn College to a 3-2 victory over Mississippi University for Women. The win over MUW helped BC clinch a spot in the SLIAC Volleyball Conference Tournament.

The junior notched a total of 30 kills for the week and posted a hitting percentage of .833 in the teams win over Principia. Pence also added four digs and a solo block and block assists to her efforts.

Blackburn went 3-0 on the week, defeating Eureka College 3-0 on Wednesday, then defeated MUW 3-2 and Principia 3-0 Saturday. The Beavers next head to Westminster College on Wednesday to take on the Blue Jays in the SLIAC Volleyball Conference Tournament Quarterfinals.
