Volleyball Wins Home Opener in Three Sets

The Blackburn College Volleyball Team won their home opener on Wednesday night against The University of Health Science and Pharmacy from St. Louis in Dawes Gym. The Beavers defeated the Eutectics 3-0 with the score being 25-17 in all three sets. 

Cara Pence led the Beavers with eight kills, followed by senior Emilie King and junior Jessica Muckensturm both ending with a total of seven kills apiece. The Beavers were on fire behind the service lines with nine service aces including three freshman Kenadee Frey. Tam Nguyen led Blackburn for the fifth straight game in digs with seven. Tessa Funderburk logged 32 assists for the Beavers.

The Eutectics were led by Darlene Zediker with seven kills and two block assists, not far behind Zediker was Suman Kaur with six kills and three blocking assists. 

The Beavers will Travel to Wilmington College in Ohio this weekend to compete in the Quaker Classic Tournament. Blackburn improves to 2-3 on the season.
