Volleyball Defeats Eureka in SLIAC Tri-Match
LOUISVILLE, KY -- The Blackburn College Volleyball team traveled to Spalding University for a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tri-match and came away with a 3-1 victory over Eureka to highlight their day.

LOUISVILLE, KY -- The Blackburn College Volleyball team traveled to Spalding University for a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tri-match and came away with a 3-1 victory over Eureka to highlight their day.
The Beavers faced the Red Devils in their first match and took back to back 25-21 victories in the first two sets. After Eureka captured the third set 25-22, BC sealed the match win with a 25-19 fourth set win.
Blackburn then took on the hosts but were unable to come away with a second victory as they fell to the Golden Eagles 3-0.
Senior Cara Pence led a balanced attack with 20 kills throughout the day. Junior Payton Moeglin added 17 while junior Ella Person chipped in with 16. Junior Zoe Mitchell added 13 and senior Jessica Muckensturm posted 12.
Sophomor Kenadee Frey tallied 59 assists and a team best five aces. Muckensturm notched four aces and Moeglin had three.
Moeglin ended the day with a team-high 33 digs to lead the defense while Pence chipped in with 27. Frey and freshman Jessi Wright aided the effort with 20 digs each. Mitchell posted two solo blocks.
With the win, the team stays in postseason contention with two important games coming up. On Wednesday, the Beavers host Webster University before traveling to Eureka for another matchup with the Red Devils. Webster and Eureka are the two teams ahead of Blackburn in the SLIAC standings.
